Andrew (in Morpeth)

Andrew was interested in the concept of growing his own veg but had never done anything like this before. We dug over a small patch at the bottom of his garden and planted lettuce, leeks, potatoes, peas and radish. The leeks did really well, but the wet weather meant that there was very little else that flourished. Undeterred, we dug a soakaway to help with the drainage (with Luke's help), and 2013 has been much more productive. Andrew has gone on to create another veg patch and will be going on to try out carrots and other produce in the future.

"Relaxing and enjoyable half hour pottering in the veg patch before the rain came. Some weeding, radishes planted and signs of second row of potatoes coming through. I'm really enjoying it."
